How does Sculptra work?
According to research, collagen production is the skin diminishes by 1% starting after age 20. As collagen is one of, if not the most, essential compound when it comes to overall skin health and elasticity, a lot of patients will need some help to take care of their skin as they get older, especially considering there are also a multitude of external factors that affect the skin, like lifestyle and overexposure to the elements. Even elastin and hyaluronic acid production slows down, which is a big contributor to deep folds and wrinkles.
Sculptra aims to reverse the damage caused by this by introducing a solution into the skin which is able to effectively stimulate the collagen production in the skin. The PLLA found in this solution actually boosts the fibroblasts, thereby also boosting production of collagen. The use of the product results in the face looking fuller and healthier, leading to wrinkles decreasing or outright disappearing after injection.
